A big house, a garden with a swimming pool, good terraces … What else would you say your house should offer you to make you happier? According to a Aedas Observatory study Made in July 2021, the answer is becoming clearer: digitization at home. Today, the digital home is not as integrated as it should (or as we would like) and the first stones are just beginning to be laid to build it, but the Spanish are clear: a digital home increases happiness.

Happiness in the digital home: results of the Aedas study

For this study, a group of around 4,000 people have been interviewed. Those who live in households that are more digital have a 9 out of 10 for happiness at home. The less digitization, the less happiness (falling below 5). Currently, they are younger those who bet more on technology at home, in addition to those who telework or that they have made a bet to obtain a higher energy efficiency.

If we look by geographic location, they are the Valencian Community, Catalonia, La Rioja, Cantabria and Andalusia who have the most digital households, while in the queue are the Balearic Islands, Asturias and Galicia.

As a curiosity, the virtual assistant It is more widespread in Cantabria, the use of the robot vacuum cleaner has a greater presence in the Valencian Community and communication between neighbors via WhatsApp is the queen in Castilla-La Mancha.

That the digital home is related to happiness at home is not crazy, although it may sound like that at first. A home that is committed to technology and digitization offers more facilities to its cohabitants, as well as more entertainment options. The weight of housework is reduced and the vision of a more modern house is something that makes us raise the perception of our own home.
